Women's hosiery has been a popular fetish for more than a century. Arrow Publications, Inc., produced a Stocking Parade every month during the late 1930s. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, a dozen different magazines may have had the words stocking, nylon, or hose in their titles. Many leg magazines continue the tradition in the 21st century.

The third issue of Nylon Mood shows us the shapely gams of 11 different models, each dressed up in sheer nylons— RHT and full-fashioned. (You might say this zine is all stockings, all the time.) Hosiery is held in place by garter belts and garters. Lovely ladies wear lace panties, nice mules and pumps, most with three-inch heels. Models include Sheba Britt, Maria Clarence, Charlene Page, Ann Wesley, Michelle Maurey, Sue Morrow, Sheba Britt, Cathy Robbins, Penny Silva, Michelle Levillant, and Jayne Tracey.

Most photography was accomplished in bedrooms and living rooms. Beds, sofas and an easy chair play major roles in photo sets, but the settings are different for each one. As was typical of pinup magazines of those times, obvious air brush work paints gleam on much of the hosiery.

This issue includes a short story — Dial “P” for Pleasure by Raymond Morley. It's about a beautiful prostitute who entertains customers in a hotel room. She calls the night clerk and asks him to visit her because she has a problem. The writer uses a few hundred words to describe her in the vernacular of the time.

"Who saw you come up here?" Yvonne Dumont was wearing a quilted housecoat, cut short at the knees. It was held in place with a red cloth belt: the deep V cut revealed a soft expanse of shadowy breasts. Even beneath the housecoat, her softly rounded curves were enough to give anyone some wild ideas. Her legs were sheathed in velvety black nylons. Her legs were sleek, delicately shaped, flashing in the shaded light as she moved about.

"Relax, baby, relax." Bruce took her in his arms, caressed her soft back, then stealthily made an attempt to reach inside the housecoat where he almost came in contact with the warm flesh.

She pulled away. "I didn't call you for that reason." Her tone was impatient. Her auburn hair with the dancing lights was hanging loose, a waterfall of shimmering beauty with a heart shaped face in the middle. Her emerald green eyes, usually laughing, were strangely frightened. "Come with me."

She led the way inside. Her tight housecoat emphasized the delightful bulge of her flaring hips, as she walked with a soft bouncing rhythm. There's no time to waste." she was saying.

The bedroom was furnished in modernistic taste. It was the best bedroom in the entire hotel: considering Yvonne's requirements, it was suitable for her needs. Matching sofa and sectional pieces, a pink and white checkerboard patterned Hollywood bed. together with a blond wood grained Hi-fi completed the ensemble. The shag rug was a matc hing blond. As the bedroom door was opened. The ceiling to floor draw-pull curtains were closed tightly. The bedroom was bathed in a soft glow.

As Yvonne walked to a corner behind the bed, bending over slightly, there was a glimpse of soft, flawlessly shaped thighs. Bruce swallowed hard. Her thighs were warm, yielding, responsive. He still felt the excitement of that last time . . . when she had been taking a sun bath under the infra-red light and he had come up to the room with a tray of food. He had been totally unprepared for the sight — Yvonne was lying nakedly delicious beneath twin strips of terry cloth towels. Her petal soft face was creamed with a fragrant lotion. Bruce had nearly dropped the tray of food. Moments later, they had partaken of a feast that was infinitely more satisfying than anything a chef could prepare in a kitchen!

Page layouts and graphics reflect modern style, with asymmetrical arrangements, lots of white space, unexpected alignments, and combinations of large and small photographs on a page. Most photographs have no captions. Many blurbs and satirical pieces make what would now be considered politically incorrect comments about prostitution.

Graphic presentation in the digital replica expresses the style of the original. Some page layouts were revised to present photos as large as possible and accommodate some of the pictures that span two pages.

The ebook contains all content of the 72-page magazine. The sequence of pages was revised slightly to obtain continuity of the short story. Some margins, borders, walls and floors were cropped out.

Some pages are labeled satire. The volume contains no advertising.

Brightness, contrast and levels were adjusted, shadows reduced and many specks re-touched. The good photography transposed to ebook format with clarity.

Nylon Mood magazine was a good product for its time, embracing styles and customs of the early 1960s. The ebook replica and its digital adjustments allow a clear view of pretty pinups from another era.
