Bill Ward provided 12 full page, air brush illustrations. He was 42 at the time.

A six-page comic strip titled Supersonic Sammy – Ants in Your Planets places a cute blond among men who look Neanderthal. With its puns, signs and gizmos (a reel of government red tape), it works like the offspring of Smokey Stover and Futurama, and, like them, it's not sexy.

Jokes take the form of art and text. Punchlines mine themes of indigenous cultures, credit, the marital and mercenary ambitions of women, the irresistible attractiveness of voluptuous female bodies, and booze. Beware of puns. For example —

Tom: "Have you ever studied the history of blotter- making?"

Jerry: "No, why should I study that?"

Tom: "It's a very absorbing subject!"

Lou: "When you were a plumber, were you in the habit of forgetting tools?"

Stu: "I don't remember!"

Ed: "Betty has brains enough for two."

Ned: "Then she's just the right girl for you!"

As soon as the plane was aloft, the college professor whipped out his glasses and became absorbed in reading his copy of the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer.

Presently, however, he noticed the young lady beside him was staring at the book with frightening intensity.

"Pardon me, miss," he asked, "is anything wrong?"

"No, of course not," she stammered, blushing. "But, you see, this is the first time I've seen a flying Chaucer!"
