Tortura Press catalog included about 200 paperback novels and fewer than 30 magazines. Both were illustrated by Bill Ward and Gene Bilbrew, although neither name appears in any of the publications.

Each volume in the magazine series included about 24 full-page illustrations and an equal number of two-column prose pages, divided into two parts. Each set of drawings seemed tailored to the narrative it illustrated, and Mr. Ward may have been the author of some of the stories. For those who enjoy Mr. Ward's bdsm work, no series surpassed the Tortura magazines in quantity or quality of pictures.

Possibly the last in the series, Satan's School doesn't consist of pictures that were drawn to illustrate a story. Most of the drawings in Satan's School appear to be culled from other volumes in the Tortura magazine series or other fiction products.

We thought our catalog offered all the Bill Ward Hilbarth magazine issues. Maybe we do now.

Horny, voluptuous Miriam works as headmistress of Green Valley School, where she uses teachers, parents and students to satisfy her deviant desires. A sadist with an enormous appetite and big collection of punishment tools, she finds many masochists in her academic circle.

On graduation day, her liaison with Professor Askiss involves chaining him to a desk and poking him with antique hatpins. Many scenes include multiple references to long leather gloves, their stimulating appeal and effects.

Miriam has a French maid, Bobette, who delivers body worship on demand. She assists her mistress with binding and whipping a well-endowed student, teasing him and using him for her own pleasure.

Mrs. Hatfield enters the headmistress office to discuss her daughter's education, but is distracted by the lascivious hijinks of Askiss and his sexy boss. She recognizes Mrs. Hatfield's sexual need and masochist tendencies and soon has her undressed, bound and poked, while wearing long leather gloves.

In many scenes, sado-masochist torments serve as foreplay. Pornographic vocabulary describes anatomy, emotions and sensations, using many superlatives. All characters engage in sexual activities.

In this scene, Miriam meets the new physical education instructor.

When big Joe arrived, she was trying on an outfit that she was planning to wear to a very private costume ball the following evening. It consisted of a sleek black leather frock, that fitted her ripe voluptuousness as though it were made of wet tissue paper. To make it all the tighter, it was laced up the side like a corset, creating a very sensuous effect, for it exposed a portion of her garter belt and two pencil-thin straps that ran down her full thighs to the expanded tops of her shiny black hose. Not much of her hose was exposed however, for her shapely limbs were encased in a pair of gleaming black leather thigh-high boots with rapier-like eight-inch heels.

She was meticulously working on a brand new pair of opera-length black glace kid gloves when big Joe knocked on her office door. It was the first time Miriam had ever seen the ex pro football player, and she was pleasantly surprised. . . . Quite handsome too, with carefully styled long blond locks.

His mouth dropped open in amazement, as his blue eyes wandered greedily over the headmistress’ fantastic assortment of curves, clad to the bursting point in her black leather frock. If Miriam had been pleasantly surprised over his appearance, she was ecstatically surprised over the promising protrusion that grew and grew in his trousers, as though it never intended to stop till it burst right through the taut material. . . .

“Kneel before me, slave,” she commanded, cracking the cat expertly a scant inch above the top of his blond head to urge him on. “My lovely leather boots are terribly dusty. Lick them until I can see my reflection in them.”

“I’ll do no such thing!” he shouted defiantly. “Big Joe Hampton licks no woman’s boots!”

CRACK. Lashing out with her strong gloved arm, and adding a flick of the wrist at the moment of impact, the nine lashes cut into big Joe’s forehead a millimeter above his eyes like a knife into butter, claret pouring down into them and temporarily blinding him.

“KNEEL, slave and start licking, or the next time I’ll rip your eyes out!” the ravishing dominatrix screeched, all of the fires in Hades seemingly burning in her black eyes.

With a defeated sob, the blond giant slipped to his knees, Miriam sliding her deliciously rotund bottom cheeks onto her desk top and held out a magnificently booted limb for him to lick. He did so with great gusto, she jabbing a rapier-like heel into his massive boner as she sent the cat screaming into his broad, muscular back. . . .

The delicious pleasure-pain added impetus to his boot-licking, and now he was lapping away madly, wetting the gleaming leather down with his saliva, as the dominatrix toyed unmercifully. . . .

It was quite an erotic picture that the two of them presented. The handsome blond giant knelt submissively before the headmistress, licking her boots frantically. In her imperious regalia of evil domination, driving him to madness as she toyed with him with her skyscraper heels. . . .

The competent prose details punishments and pleasures, fabulous physiology, and fetish attire. The author decorates alluring female bodies with leather gloves, nylons, garter straps, boots, high heels and corsets. Punishment utensils include cat-o'-nine tails, bull whip, steel ruler, crop, cane, paddle, umbrella, ropes and hatpins.

To align pictures and prose, text was re-set for the ebook. The story has been edited, revising sentencing, paragraphing, punctuation and characterization. Some modifiers were excised. In pursuit of continuity, the sequence of scenes was changed. About 15000 words.

As possible, pictures were placed near text that describes them. Not all gestures presented in the story appear in the drawings.

The magazine contains 26 full-page illustrations by the Great Bill Ward. These ink drawings are optimized on more than 80 pages. Tasty fetish details — such as action, figure features, high heels and corsets — appear on separate pages as virtual enlargements, reducing the need for zooming and scrolling.

In the original, a caption was placed below each illustration. In the ebook, complete illustrations are placed on the right end of pages, and captions appear on the left, in italics.
