Spanking of young women defines the main theme here but elements of lesbianism, humiliation and bondage complete the premises. If the story told of young men who were spanked, we might call this a masochist fantasy. But the text uses the expression “lesbian sadist” multiple times in each of the 12 chapters and the narrative presents many scenes of cruelty.

Darla was orphaned when her parents perished in an accident, and came to live with Aunt Beverly. This austere spinster showed the teen no affection as she continued to carry fierce resentment against her deceased sister for marrying the man she wanted and transferred her anger to Darla.

Beverly's mercenary motives and sadistic fantasies drive her to devise a scheme to acquire Darla's inheritance when she comes of age. The mean aunt becomes friends with matrons at the nearby Cordley Reformatory for Girls. They invite her to observe their brutal corporal punishment of teens in their charge, and Superintendent Sinton invites her to spend the night in her bed.

Beverly hires Kitty, a woman with a questionable reputation, to be household maid. Beverly conspires with Kitty to fabricate a crime that will result in a painful time in the Reformatory for Darla. There, Darla endures bitter pain and humiliation for a deed she didn't do and surreptitiously receives punishment from her veiled aunt when she visits the dark facility.

Mr. de Granamour works his prose with conviction, providing copious details about punishment utensils and the exquisite heat they whip into young buns. He identifies the figures, lingerie and footwear of all characters.

In Chapter Six, Beverly tests Kitty's submissiveness during their interview.

Trembling fitfully, Beverly Olson circled her left arm round the young woman's supple waist. Her eyes drank in the voluptuous figure of the girl, because now the dress clung suggestively to shape out the plump, closely spaced bottom globes and the round firm thighs under the thin skirt. She tightened her arm, and Kitty squirmed invitingly, still continuing to look back over her shoulder. Darla's aunt raised her right hand and applied a slight, trial spank on one of those plump buttocks, and was startled at the springy resilience of the flesh beneath the skirt.

"Oh gosh, Miss Olson, aren't you going to pull up and pull down the way my Daddy does? He always says a spanking isn't any good unless it's on the bare."

"All right then, young lady." Beverly 01son declared. "Remember, you asked for it!" Now she hesitated no longer. Trussing up the girl's skirt and the white nylon halfslip beneath, she unveiled a magnificent, ripe, tightly set pair of bottom globes snugly veiled in pink nylon suspants, whose tiny sewn-in tabs hooked to the tops of the young woman's gauzy charcoal-brown nylon hose. . .

Kitty uttered a little gasp and tightened her muscles by way of a token of pretended fear. Now Beverly Olson shivered with anticipation, the same kind she had experienced in the punishment room at Cordley. But this time there was the added exhilarating sensation of being herself the active participant in this humiliating chastisement.

"All right, Kitty, I'm going to make sure that you're going to be a good maid and obey your mistress," she promised. Her right hand fell authoritatively on Kitty's left ass cheek, and at the exact summit. The bright pink outline of her palm instantly sprang up on the soft olive-tinted globe and Kitty wriggled exquisitely, her eyes widening. It was intensely thrilling to the dominatress who began to spank with greater confidence and enthusiasm. She applied some fifty hard stinging slaps to Kitty's plump bare ass and the fiery-red shade imparted was intensely satisfying. So too were Kitty's squeals.

When it was finished, Darla's aunt was breathless and trembling with excitement. . . Kitty slowly rose, ruefully rubbing her bottom, tears misting her dilated gray-green eyes. . .

The author creates a sinister environment where young women are stripped of dignity and hope. The matrons use their captives both as victims in sadistic rituals and sexual servants. Despite its gruesome extremes, the scenario is as plausible as other popular mid-century family melodramas. Many tears.

The text was reset for the ebook iteration and retains the vocabulary of the original. A few changes were made to punctuation and spelling. About 29,000 words.

Fourteen ink and ink-wash pictures by the Great Eric Stanton illuminate the fine text. The narrative content of his renderings closely align with scenes in the story, descriptions of characters, costumes, settings and punishment implements. In the ebook, images were sequenced to correlate with scenes in the story, but only some of the story events appear in pictures.

Images were optimized to provide virtual enlargements of action and figure features. Illustrations appear on 40+ pages, reducing the need for zooming and scrolling.
