The transvestite, long an obscure and misunderstood figure in the lengthy parade of human sexuality. At one time, we thought of all TVs as the same, without differentiating between transvestites, transsexuals and sex-changes. We included within that group drag queens and female impersonators, further confusing the issue.

Today, we are beginning to asknowledge and understand the vital differences between these variations on a theme. We separate the transvestite from the transsexual, acknowledging that the former merely enjoys dressing as a woman; while the latter actually feels himself to be a woman and establishes a lifestyle in which the realisation of becoming a complete woman will someday be a reality. And further, we distinguish between the transsexual and the sex-change, understanding
that once a transsexual has the sex change operation, she is no longer a transsexual, but a woman.

The world of dual sexuality is a confusing one, and it is a world that is relatively new to the mainstream of society. But as time progresses, and more and more TVs, transsexuals and sex-changes emerge, our understanding will necessarily grow. We will come of age, and we will accept!
