Female Mimics pictures professional female impersonators as they perform on stage in night clubs and prepare to do so. Two pictorials shows pretty young femmes dressing up at home. Several photographs were taken at Mr. Burtman's apartment. The graphics and production of this magazine are superior to typical Health Knowledge and Selbee products.
The opening article reveals the wide assortment of costumes worn by party-goers at a New York City drag ball. Transvestites dress in lace, lame, furs, chiffon and the latest mod prints. Three pictures show us the brides of make-believe weddings.
We're taken to the Elle et Lui (she and him) Club of Paris, located next to Le Carrousel Club. There, we find another variant of cross-dressing: women who dress as men.
Like many fetish pinup models, Dora DeCarlo and Bobby Barton show off in dresses and undies in front of Mr. Burtman's bar. Blond bombshell Vicky models her lace stockings at home and on an urban roof.
Brothers Hilmar and Christian Dubois appear on stages around the world as a sister act. Their appearance in frills, glitter, feathers and lingerie creates a startling illusion. The text says they performed with many famous entertainers, including a spot on the Dinah Shore television show. One of the photographs pictures them with Salvador Dali.
An article by Carlson Wade attempts to answer the question, “Do Clothes Make the Girl?” He distinguishes the femininity of female impersonators from those who have undergone surgery to become female. Famous female mimics are shown in photographs.
