Although rough, Mr. Burtman's 1960s Bizarre Life magazine pioneered the pictorial presentation of alternative sexual idioms. Each issue worked to include an assortment of deviations such as cross-dressing, spanking, female domination, and varied fetish interests. Under the Eros Goldstripe ribbon, his 1980s venture has similar intent, but this issue works more like a scrapbook of images, clustered in categories.

The one new work that occupies these pages is the essay titled Lessons in Domination. This articulate prose is written in the voice of a professional dominatrix, who counsels would-be dominas on the fine points of punishment and control. She says, “ . . . the ideal to be aimed at always is that the man should be totally submissive even when he is physically free to resist.” She suggests the promise of sexual gratification in exchange for the man's acceptance of punishment. “Make sure that every time sexual pleasure is possible, that you increase the price! In this I am not, of course, discussing money, but the cost in pain and humiliation.”

This latter-day iteration of the venerable 1960s excursion into alternative sex styles nominally recapitulates the variety of the original Bizarre Life, but lacks its ambition. An erotic magazine album of photo categories, the ebook clearly discloses the collection behind the cover.
