A gentleman in New Zealand asked us for more of the work of Tom Ripple. We've paired the complete Reform of the Flesh card set with another Candor card product. Both depict scenes in which women dominate, hurt and abuse men.

When Ed Mishkin had his address on Montgomery Street in Jersey City, near Mr. Klaw's defunct offices, he branded his digest-sized publications Mutrix. When he moved back to Manhattan, his corporate name changed to Wholesale Book Corporation, but products usually wore the Mutrix brand. Successor to Wholesale, Candor Books also used the Mutrix brand and published many bdsm, fetish and TV titles in the 1970s — booklets, cards and films. Some of the bondage- and rubber- themed booklets and cards were reprints of British products. We're guessing Mr. Ripple was American.

Reform of the Flesh, Parts 1, 2 and 3

The institutional dynamics of Reform of the Flesh whip around a prison operated by voluptuous women, most of whom wear leather bras, panties and boots. Inmates are male and the pretext for punishing two of them is their recent escape attempt.

Mostly, men are naked. This gives the sadistic warden and her minions complete access for punishment purposes.

In Part I, after a man is bound face down, a big wheel spins sandpaper against his bottom. The warden gleefully whips him with a cat-o'-nine-tails and passes it to one of the guards for her entertainment.

Women handle his penis and scrotum in Part II. In one sequence, he's fastened to a wood platform that has an opening through which his testicles hang. The warden assails an errant inmate with a bullwhip.

Wearing boxing gloves, the warden uses hanging testicles as a punching bag in Part III. The story ends with this summary:

The two prisoners are led back to their cells — the pain in their groins an excruciating reminder of the penalties for disobedience in the prison where gorgeous women watch closely over them. Their minds and bodies have been reformed to be puppets for the dominating females!

Mr. Ripple's illustrations have a quick, rough quality. His busty, long-waisted beauties have a devilish gleam in their eyes as they lash their helpless captives.

The original consists of three packs of 12 numbered cards each. The ebooks show panels and their borders at full size. Each set of 12 has the same panel for panel three.

Brightness, contrast and levels were adjusted. The ebook images improve on the graphics of the originals.

Horse Whipt!

Horse Whipt! takes the form of fumetti, sometimes called photo comics. This format resembles a comics strip with dialog balloons and narrative blocks, but in fumetti photographs replace drawings. [Characters in Federico Fellini's 1952 movie pose for photographs that will appear in a fumetti magazine titled The White Sheik.]

Balloons were pasted on top of the photos. Pain spikes were added with a marker.

The complete set consists of two parts, 10 cards each. The glossy paper and absence of dot patterns suggest that they may be photo prints. The tenth card in each set says CANDOR INC.

The product intends to show sexy women treating a lowly man with contempt, degrading him for their amusement. While the photographs show that, the colorful dialog exposes the convictions that motivate the women's behavior.

In Part 1, a women steps on a naked man with her riding boots, calling him her stable boy. When he's fitted with an equine head harness, she rides him, holding a riding crop. She demands boot and body worship, then covers his face and genitalia in leather enclosures.

The woman of Part 1 appears in the first two cards of Part 2, wearing only boots and gloves.The last eight panels show another woman in collar, gloves, boots and corset, stepping and sitting on the cuffed male.

The ebook presents the complete content of the card sets on 20 pages in the numbered sequence.

Brightness, contrast and levels were adjusted and shadows reduced. The ebook improves on the clarity of original images.
