British and detailed, Rubber Torment mixes bondage and female domination elements with strong fetish notes. A long short story, the third-person narrative tells the painful odyssey of innocent, young Coral. Intrigued by an advertisement for a rubber raincoat, she visits Rubleate Modes, a store that sells bespoke rubber and leather garments.

When she returns to try on her new mackintosh, she's drugged and restrained by Madame Satura and Madame Learobe. When Coral objects to the sudden outrage, her bizarre future is explained.

"Silence girl," hissed Madame Satura harshly. "How dare you scream and protest. You must learn how to control your wayward impulses. Allow me to acquaint you with your new position in life. No longer are you Coral Mintern — a 22 year old fashion and photographic model. You are to become our lovely slave model. You shall wear wonderfully designed clothes of rubber and leather — you will have your shapely figure maintained at the highest peaks of sensitivity.

In return for that exciting pleasure we shall use your body as a subject on which to experiment. Madame Learube and I are intensely interested to see what your reactions will be to these experiments. They will test your strength — your endurance — and in some cases your desire.

We cannot pretend that they will not be painful — and because your lovely body will have been made so sensitive you will be made aware of this pain all the more. At the beginning you will scream and struggle with fear, but if you are sensible you will subjugate your natural feelings to enjoy the thrilling luxury of being exotically clad in rubber or leather. If you remain too obstinate it will be all the worse for you because we will break down your spirit and your will until you obey automatically our commands. You will not hesitate because your mind would be entirely in our control."

"We shall now prepare your lovely figure in such a way so that it will appreciate the lovely clothes in which it will be clad. The sensitivity of your gorgeous figure will be raised terrifically. We shall turn you into a complete and utter fetischist of rubber and leather.”

The book chronicles Coral's painful trials at the hands of the cruel Madames and their cohorts. The text provides explicit details about costumes, bondage, and contraptions, such as the Love Couch.

The narrative is divided into named chapters that identify the progress of the victim's torment. For example —

The Abduction

The Cycle Trainer

The Water Sack

The Water and Air Suit

The Mud Pit

A Night in Bondage

The Modern Inquisition

The Statue

Over the weeks of her confinement, Coral endures a peculiar litany of harrowing rituals for the entertainment of her captors. In the end, they conscript her into lesbian congress, but only after she's punished for objecting to it.

The prose shows imagination and skill in the design of scenes and predicaments. Text makes frequent references to elements of attire, restraints and the unpleasant sensations they cause.

The text was produced on a typewriter and typed paragraphs occupy most pages in the ebook. Typing is irregular. Illustrations appear on five interior pages plus the back cover.

The ebook contains every page of the original booklet, including two pages of Candor advertising, in the original sequence. The ebook improves on the legibility of the original.

All new scans.

Titled "Invitation to Torment" on the first page of text, it appears that Rubber Torment was first published by Mr. Klaw as a Nutrix book, then by Mr. Mishkin as a Mutrix publication. Mutrix Corporation morphed into Wholesale Books, which produced many Nutrix and Mutrix reprints. Candor seems to have been the corporate successor to Wholesale Books, and added many products to its catalog.

On the day this ebook was added to the website, online bookstores priced the paper antique at $150.
