You made a super-job, dear friend. Really. . . .
But you have done a real miracle. Yes.
And thank you so much . . . .

Ciao!

---------------------------

Ten years ago, we produced product SKU: #513, consisting of a digital replica of Stocking Parade, Number 3 and Pleasure Parade No. 5. Pleasure Parade No. 5 was presented in two volumes, one of which was optimized. The optimized ebook contained Fred Winter's excellent tale of vain masculine humiliation, Schenley's Reserve, and Eric Stanton's superb Family Affair, Book 5.

Pleasure Parade No. 5 is a full-sized magazine, printed with ink on glossy paper. Schenley's Reserve, which takes the form of a comic strip, transposed nicely to optimized ebook format in sharp blacks and white.

In the magazine-shaped publication, Family Affair 5 appears as 18 panels on four-and-a-half pages. Instead of photographs of the Maestro's splendid pencil art, the episode seems to be derived from copy machine copies of his illustrations. As in Stantoons booklets, drawings are embedded in medium gray rectangles of toner dots. Although the paper is good, what makes this presentation even worse is that each panel is less than 4.5 inches tall, smaller than typical Stantoons page content.

Our 2007 work brought the art closer to clarity, adjusting contrast to develop light backgrounds. But each of the 18 panels were shown complete, two panels per ebook page, not fully optimized.

In April, 2017, we received this message from a customer in Italy:

Your [Family Affair 5] is in bad condition. [Look at your ebook]. I can't find [a copy of Family Affair 5 anywhere]. Maybe you have the one and only copy in the planet!

I was an old Stanton's Catalogue customer. Family Affair 5 is my missing gem... Your 18 panels are without number of pages, no title and too much gray...

Ciao!

In July, we took another shot at Family Affair 5, starting with new, de-screening scans. A few of the 18 panels consist of multiple scenes. These were disassembled and each scene was placed on its own page. We used levels adjustment to liberate the pencil art from the gray backgrounds. To display characters as large as possible, we re-located dialog balloons.

It's better but imperfect. Each of the 24 pages has different tonality. Some of the smaller drawings lack sharpness (and detail, because that's how the artist rendered it in the small space).

Family Affair 5 appears in none of the Stantoons booklets. The words “Family Affair Book 5” don't appear in Pleasure Parade No. 5 either.

In it, Lorraine gives husband Henry a standard ration of kicking and whipping. But her cruelty here delivers humiliating sexual piquancy with bathroom tableaux and face-sitting witnessed by family members.

If you've ever bought product #513 (sometimes numbered #514 in error), we want you to have the revised Family Affair 5. All we ask is that you send us the name of the file that contains Family Affair 5 using
the CONTACT page.

When we receive the file name, we'll add the new file to your 30sg.com account.
