We've received several requests for ebooks of 1970s House of Milan bondage magazines. Then, issues had 64 pages. Unfortunately, we received this issue of Hogtie without the centerfold (pages 31, 32, 33 and 34), but the extant content provides a generous serving of HOM bondage delights, enhanced by Robert Bishop illustrations.

From photography to gear to printing, it's obvious that experienced professionals produced this issue of Hogtie. We often gripe about all the spot and speck retouching magazine photographs require, but very little of that was needed to make this ebook.

The issue brims with shapely ladies in bondage. Some are tied with ropes while buckled leather belts restrain others. Some lovelies are silenced by tape or rope, others with an improvised Wiffle ball and strap assembly.

Although all models are attractive and sexy, few rival Rene Bond. In a pictorial titled Green Room, she's roped to a bar stool. Dressed in cutout bra, long gloves, garter belt, nylons and pumps with six-inch heels, she seems contemplative and a bit sad. In the last pictures, black tape covers her mouth.

In The Lure of Bondage essay, Willis W. Lamb, Ph.D., explores “the history, development, and fascination of erotic subjugation.” At the end, he quotes a woman who describes her excursions into bondage as “playacting.”

"The way I see bondage, it's a deliriously exciting, naughty little game we often play when we're bored. We haven't cheated on each other, nor have we deceived each other, and we're better lovers today than when we first married. That's the way I want it," Betty J— concluded.

There indeed speaks an intelligent woman who has learned that everything in moderation and yet in variation is the ideal course in sexual behavior. From her we may learn also that the lure of bondage has indeed strong fascination, yet indeed a darker side which we would do well to skirt, lest we warp our lives and diminish our pleasures.

The beauty of sexual imagery and imagination is a major part of our contemporary advance in the science and cultures, granted. Yet the dark demons of sadism and masochism lurk in wait for the unwary. If we were candid enough to open up the hiding places of our minds and expose them for what they are, then we may surely enjoy bondage as experimentation and variation, but never as the complete substitute for unselfish, passionately fulfilling lovemaking.

Illuminated by Robert Bishop art.

Kenneth Harding's Marriage Trial by Tribulation story fabricates events that lead up to a wedding. Quiet Evenings collect five Robert Bishop illustrations, each showing women in bondage.

Except for four missing pages, the ebook contains all content of the magazine, including advertising and personals, in the original sequence. A few page layouts were revised.

Brightness and contrast were adjusted and shadows reduced. Some walls, floors, margins and borders were cropped out.

All new scans.

On page 2, Barbara Behr is listed as editor of Hogtie. An editorial titled Bound and Determined makes this statement on page 3:

Although sado-masochistic activities can be carried to extremes, going so far as to inflict permanent injury, or cause disastrous damage to a relationship, there is a healthy, enjoyable median that can give only pleasure to everyone involved. If bondage and discipline are treated as they should be — as a game, an adjunct to a normal sexual relationship — they can be a very satisfying means of adding even greater pleasure to an already satisfying encounter.

This magazine is designed for — and dedicated to — the people who understand this. Being bound is, for many people, enough to heighten their sexual feelings considerably, while administering the subjugation serves a similar purpose for their mates, and there is no need for physical harm to be inflicted. In short, bondage and discipline can be treated as a form of intimate entertainment, for the pleasure of those involved, with both people able to smile contentedly when the game is over. It is as though a sexual relationship has taken on the guise of a play or movie; the cast enjoys their roles and plays them to the fullest, but when the show is over, they are able to relate to one another once again as their normal selves. At least, until it's time for the next performance.

In the 1970s, House of Milan pursued esoteric interests with a spectrum of engaging products. The bound beauties of Hogtie were models who played other roles in other magazines. Expert use of explicit bondage paraphernalia (not clothesline) and the professional quality of publications had resonance with actual practitioners and built an international clientele. The ebook brings this fine work to life in the next century.
