When those with fluency in Romance languages use the word fétiche, the accent appears above the first e. Perhaps the editors of Fetiche magazine had origination of a new word in mind when they placed an acute accent above the final e.
However the title may have been formulated, issue content suits the name, with pictorials that show pretty models in an assortment of high-heeled shoes and boots. The word heels appears twice on the cover and all but the French pictorial show posers wearing four- five- or six-inch spikes.
The Model Game
A shapely lass displays lovely limbs in stretchy Agilon stockings. In the boudoir, holding a cat o' nine tails, she's in long black gloves, corset and pumps with six-inch heels. She relaxes on a sofa in long red gloves, satin corset and shiny pumps with high heels. Outdoors, she's in black boots.
The Appeal of Heels article
The essay characterizes foot and shoe fetishism as a mental health issue and speculates about early life experiences that may result in the fixation. The lengthy prose recites case histories about the habits and feelings of men and women respecting shoes and boots.
As though written by a psychologist, the author refers to ideas of famous writers, including Dr. Freud's familiar analysis.
. . . heels are phallic symbols for women as well as for men. Freud tells us that the little girl goes through the Oedipal stage just like the little boy but that she usually transfers her affections to her father when she realizes that neither she nor her mother has a penis. Thus she develops what Adler called penis-envy, that feeling of feminine inferiority which many have labeled sexual, others social, and some have denied altogether.
