Based on its content, Taskmaster is a bondage magazine. But the Command Decision editorial on page two celebrates the pleasures of male domination.

“Domination and submission are basic qualities of the human nature. It has been this way since before man became a rational, thinking creature and it will be that way until man changes into something far evolved from what he is today. Within the human species it is the male who is both physically and emotionally dominate (sic) over the female; this is an undeniable fact.

This magazine is dedicated to that fact. Whether it is in real life or in fantasy, every male wants to dominate his female; to be her master in every way. It is our hope that this magazine is a vehicle for the expression of this dominant attitude. It is our hope that within these pages we can show the happiness and sense of power that a master/slave relationship between a man and a woman can have. There is pleasure in both being dominant as well as in submitting yourself completely to your master.

Men appear in a few pictures with faces concealed. Photos show slender beauties, restrained in ropes, sometimes gagged. Undress progressions may start with panties, bra, garter belt and stockings.


Some ropes connect with chairs, posts, doors, dowels and other lumber. The centerfold shows inverted suspension.


A MASTERMEMO describes five positions that slaves must assume upon command. A Schedule of Punishments specifies the number of lashes a “slavergirl” receives for each type of misdemeanor.


In a short story, Mr. Benson contracts with a merchant who delivers a woman for a weekend of sadistic escapades. One illustration.


The Pussy Whip comic appears on one page. A “Guardian of Decency” rescues a woman from her irate beau.


The digital replica includes all the content of the 48-page magazine, including advertising. Ads offer photo packs, magazines and bondage paraphernalia.


Page sequence was revised to obtain continuity of the short story. A few page layouts were modified. Some borders, margins, walls, and carpet were cropped out to develop a smaller file size.


Brightness and contrast were adjusted. Images transposed nicely to ebook format with good skin tones.

While the expressed theme is male domination of women, the product mostly shows pretty models in rope bondage. Innocent 1970s culture wonks encouraged exploration of lifestyles that departed from male-dominated households. In a sense, Taskmaster dogma defied trendy counter-culture ideals of its time.
