While many H-O-M magazines are focused on women in bondage, Dominique depicts women in command of a man or another woman. Dominant divas punish, abuse and humiliate their volunteer captives, using their “slaves” as sexual playthings and targets of their sadistic storms.

Dommes dress in leather and rubber, boots and pumps, stockings, garter belts, and lingerie. Mostly monochrome photographs show whip, cat, cane, rope and a bridle.

But it’s not discipline, the purpose of which is rehabilitation. We are told they derive pleasure from inflicting pain. The subject of the magazine is neither sadism nor masochism. The pictures depict fantasies of masochists as imagined by the Editress, Lady Theresa. In her Editorial she writes, “The women [the characters portrayed by models in the photo-scenarios] create . . . thrilling events to arouse the fears and desires of their men, but doing so is just what the men want” [i.e., the masochist’s fantasy]. “It is what they dream of, and . . . they welcome their servitude . . . .” She explicitly solicits readers’ “ . . . fantasies that we can turn into dreamy photos and stories.”

The pictorials have titles that disclose the motif:

—“The Bondage and Caning of an Oriental Girl”
—“My Gruesome Black Latex Goddess”

Stories are titled “Advice to a Blossoming Young Bitch” and “Captive Audience.” The five pages of “Dominant Gallery” show five models in boots.

The photography is good, with diffused lighting that develops few unpleasant shadows. Tonality was adjusted and spots retouched.

In the digital replica, page layouts were revised slightly to obtain larger pictures on ebook pages. Empty margins at the edges were removed. The page sequence was revised to provide continuity of prose pieces, such as letters and and short stories. Every word and picture in the original magazine is contained in the digital replica, including ads and personals.
