With candor and some extravagant praise, this issue develops a nice mix of subjects. Not all photographs were taken by professionals.

Happy Ever After
“It was everything a formal wedding ceremony should be. Everyone there was dressed for such an affair.

“The only true female in the wedding party was the bride's sister who was the flower girl. All the bridesmaids and the the bride were TVs dressed in their finest silk and lace.

“Rochelle (Richard) DeCosta became the bride of Charles Martin on April 6, 1974” in Connecticut.

Photos show all involved in tux and long dresses.

China Doll
“Toni Lee once auditioned for a job in the male ballet chorus in the Jewel Box Revue and was told there were no jobs open at the time, except for a toe-dancing female impersonator. Toni went out, bought the shoes and a wig, practiced a toe dancing routine, came back, and danced into the job and into the world of female impersonating.

"'I've been in the silks ever since,' says Miss Lee, who shortly after winning the toe-dancing job went on to put her own act together and appear alone. She bills herself as The China Doll.

"'I'm half Chinese and half English,'" Toni says. 'My toe dance routine has an Oriental theme. I tell the audience about my dance, and invite them to participate.'

Miss Lee's most popular presentation is her fan dance. She strips "to a certain point" and dances with two feathered fans. The audiences love this routine above all others!”

Miss Lee is shown in ornate on-stage costume of feathers, glitter, pasties and many tassels.

Through the Looking Glass
“A bevy of Philadelphia's most beautiful boys helped Henri David kick off his ill-fated Through the Looking Glass four-city series of female impersonation contests.

“The competitions, to be held in Philadelphia, Washington, New York and Atlanta, has as first prize a fully paid sex change operation. According to Mr. David, the reaction to the prize was so negative and vehement, he received threats on his life if he continued the series. Mr. David therefore canceled the series after the initial competition.”
