In Selbee/Health Knowledge iterations of Female Mimics magazine, we meet men who entertain professionally, singing, dancing and telling jokes on the stages of cabarets. In the sixth volume of Female Mimics issues showing Eros Goldstripe ribbons on covers, we find two additional ingredients: an article about the psychology of cross-dressers and transvestite fiction. The content considers both recreational cross-dressers and show business professionals.

In a long, rambling piece titled Spotlight on Cross-Dressing Part Two, a 55-year-old writer examines the history of gender-based dress distinctions to arrive at an explanation of the desire to wear clothing of the opposite sex. He observes that 200 years ago and earlier, men and women wore frocks. Since 1920, he says, men and women wear trousers, which continues unisex habits with a different style. Accompanying photographs show men in stockings, dresses and heels.

Three illustrations by Bill Ward illuminate a short story titled Transvestite Peeper. Bobby accidentally discovers Aunt Martha getting dressed in stockings and long gloves. When his sister Kate arrives, he learns that the two sexy women are lovers. Fascinated by the fetish undergarments these beauties wear for each other, he borrows Kate's hosiery, corset, gloves and pumps the next day. When he's found peeping and cross-dressed, Aunt Martha recruits him to be their maid.

A pictorial exposes the Asian mystique of Gary the Geisha Guy. Vegas-based Cherry isn't an entertainer, but a waitress who lives as a woman full-time. In one costumes, leggy Cherry wears studded leather corset, and sheer stockings over fishnets while holding a whip.

Glammed-up party-goers and poised contestants enjoy the glitter at three dress-up events. Men and women mix and match at the Coronation of Emperor III in San Francisco. In talent, evening gown and swimsuit competitions, cross-dressers vie for the title Of Miss Cotillion 1974 in Los Angeles. The Closet Queen Ball encourages transvestites to strut their frilly stuff in public, and photos show glamorous guys in wigs and dresses at the L A event.

The digital replica contains all the content of original magazine, including advertising and personals. Some page layouts have been revised. Photographs have been adjusted in pursuit of clarity and provide a better view than the original. Page sequence has been revised to achieve continuity of two prose pieces.

The 64-page Goldstripe zine has an abundance of transvestite and female impersonator pictures, and the ebook provides the best mechanism for enjoying it.
