Cover graphics and titling of this book and others in its series worked to exploit the popularity of a genuine best-selling sex book of the early 1970s. The original non-fiction inspired a feature film. Each of the more than 25 volumes in the Eros Goldstripe series considered — at least in its title — an alternative sexual idiom such as fetishism, domination, bi-sexuality, prostitution, threesomes and orgies.

The author of the Sex Fantasies paperback probably had an advanced degree in something. The lucid prose covers many sex-related subjects and refers often to noted experts. Freud, Jung, Eric Berne, Theodore Reik, Havelock Ellis, Albert Ellis, and many other experts are cited and quoted. The writer has broad knowledge of cultural artifacts as context and analogy for the psychological conditions he explains.

He also catalogs aphrodisiac substances and intoxicants, debugging myths and proclaiming warnings.

Some of the text takes the form of correspondence about sexual problems between individuals seeking assistance and Dr. Hilton. Through these letters, the book exposes activities about which people have concerns and provides common sense advice.

The book also contains about 100 photographs that cover an assortment of sexual modes. Most include one male and one female in various sexual positions, sometimes engaged in oral sex. A few pictures show bondage and domination. Some of the best pictures illustrate fetish rituals, involving feet, shoes and boots. Each photo has a caption, but the subjects of captions have little connection to pictures or text.

The text has been re-set for the ebook version. Few changes were made to the competent prose, but spelling was corrected.

All photographs in the book appear in the ebook in the approximate sequence of the paper version. Pictures do not align with the subjects of text in either version.
