The Art of Female Impersonation, Volume Eleven
This volume introduces us to five formidable femmes, whose stories disclose personal history, techniques and talents that make them successful in their chosen show business niche or hobby. Descriptions of these lovely performers were written by Vickie Lynne. The text pays attention to underwear, lipstick, makeup, wigs, fabrics and footwear.

Kim August
The professional life of Kim August occupies more than half the book's pages and pictures. With curves to spare, this cute blond invests his success in creation of a complete and convincing female illusion. The text traces Kim's on stage career from the days when he was a chorus boy and noticed that chorus girls were treated much better by on stage and back stage personnel.

He studied the charm, hair styles and mannerisms of actresses in movie star magazines, then practiced them. He was hired at his first audition for Finochio's in San Francisco.

The prose describes the careful construction of Kim's female presentation, with references to costumes, shaving, cosmetics and natural-hair wig. Photos show him at home in various stages of deshabille, in nylons, tights, bras, gowns, feathers, ruffles, chiffon, negligee and capri pants.

Tracy Stevens
“Tracy attended a school for hairdressers, where he came in contact with young female impersonators who, in order to save money on wig coiffures, came to this school, thus cutting costs in half. Tracy was impressed with the gayety and gorgeous costumes worn by the professional femme mimics and became interested in this intriguing profession.

"After graduating from hairdressing school and finding the hairdressing field overcrowded, Tracy obtained a job at a small night club as a female impersonator . . . in order to learn all the tricks of make and the art of impersonating females. Tracy thought it best to learn this profession at a smaller club. . . . Tracy then graduated to vaudeville and burlesque stages, where he worked all over the United States and Canada.”

Prose and photos picture Kim and Tracy with Terry Mannette, Rene del Rio, and Jan Richards at an informal get-together. The agenda focuses on perfecting illusion. The more experienced performers advise younger ones about perfume, hats, jewelry and the proper fastening of wigs.

The original volume has more than 30 photographs of guys in drag at home. Some wear dresses while others show off in stockings, undies and heels.

The ebook is a close digital replica, duplicating the page sequence of the original. Tonality was adjusted to achieve clarity. All the content of the original is included in the ebook, including two pages of Nutrix advertising.

Photographs show individual, identified performers in head shots and full costume. Many pictures show cast ensembles on stages.

Two photos show the Jewel Box Revue float in a parade celebrating the British Empire games in Vancouver. Eight pictures show the revue named on marquees of theaters and night clubs.

A short introduction characterizes the ancient practice of men in female attire as “an old mannish custom.” One page contains a lengthy list of venues at which the troupe performed. The last pages have snippets of newspaper reviews, praising the quality of stagecraft and congratulating success.

The ebook displays these large pages without revision or reduction in size. Brightness and contrast were adjusted.
