Bound, Number 1
The now famous cover illustration, containing characters in high heels drawn by both Eric Stanton and Gene Bilbrew, introduces the premiere issue of Bound. Nine fine pencil drawings by Mr. Stanton illustrate the first installment of the fiction serial named “Bondage Hotel.”

When Betsy snoops into her roommate’s trunk, Margie binds and punishes her, and transforms her into a “bondage-slave.” Betsy is delivered to the Bondage Hotel, where other captives are forced to display themselves in confining fetish apparel and high-heeled footwear. The weekend guests are mostly dominant women who enjoy seeing the shapely captives dressed in leather and twisted in an assortment of uncomfortable bondage contraptions.

Betsy is the narrator of the first person account, which provides copious details about shoes and boots, corsets and waist-cinchers, hosiery, gloves and leotards. The literate prose does a competent job of describing constrained bodies, bondage schemes and punishments.

It appears that the story was written first, and Mr. Stanton was commissioned to illustrate it. These pictures have more vitality than those of his Klaw years, reflecting development of his skill. His precise images show the attitude of characters and carefully render the lovely shapes in tight attire as described in the text. Some may perceive Ditka influences in the lines.

The original volume of more than 90 pages also contains the first episodes of two comics serials. Four pages of Mr. Stanton’s “Vixen’s Vendetta,” signed as Stan, is followed by four pages of Gene Bilbrew’s, signed as Eneg, “The Captive.” These page layouts are included in the digital replica. The panels are separated and are placed one to a page in a small format optimized ebook. These two erotic masters infused their pictures with precious fetish glamor and this ebook presentation make it all easy to enjoy.

Captain Dolly
Thirty years later, Mr. Stanton was publishing his art in booklets, presenting his stories in pictures he drew. In those days, he had no inhibition about telling tales of lovely ladies who punished men who misbehaved.

In Captain Dolly, Dolly of Family Affair accepts her bosses invitation for an afternoon of sun and surf on his boat. When he makes improper advances toward her, she punches, dunks, binds and whips him.

The optimized ebook is based on scans from secondary sources. Shading and tonality have been adjusted. The pictures of curvaceous Dolly fill the screen from top to bottom but many images are grainy or have a rough texture. Despite shortcomings, the ebook clearly shows powerful female forms overpowering men and administering bizarre justice.

This product presents obscure 1960s erotic ephemera in digital form. The Bound magazines have not been anthologized or reprinted anywhere since there original publication. No book or website provides access to the excellent art of Messrs. Stanton and Bilbrew contained in this volume. Through these digital iterations we visit the past and find unexpected treasure we can experience as if new.
