Like Mr. Bilbrew's Mistress comic serial and Astro-Gal strip and Mr. Stanton's Leather Boot Club, V-Pants has a Cold War context. The story centers on the next president of Canada: will he be pro-West or a scheming agent of the Evil Empire. General Sweetland sends beautiful Evelyn Handleman to Toronto to ensure that capitalism advocate Roger Dresser (transvestite name pun intended) wins a debate and the impending election.

Spies, thugs, double agents, and decoys handcuff, wrestle and punch. Just before the debate, the villain dresses Mr. Dresser in a dress to embarrass and discredit him in front of a national television audience. Evelyn intercedes at the last minute to rescue Dresser's reputation and turn tables on his dastardly opponent.

Mr. Stanton's superb drawings show scenes from the story in clear black and white. The modern style of these narrative images might today be found in comic books or graphic novels. Deft and dynamic, his pictures describe fight scenes with agility, showing stress between combatants. A creative talent at the top of his game, he makes this clear ink work look easy.

The prose of the short story is pretty good. The writer did a nice job describing fight scenes, the voluptuous women involved, and their sensuous costumes.

Brightness and contrast were adjusted. The digital replica places pictures close to related pages of text.

The mix of art and story yields a sexy period piece with fight and fetish features only the Maestro could deliver. A cheerful mix of espionage, cross-dressing and fisticuffs, Evelyn and her ally Genevieve could have become shapely heroines in a continuing series of erotic stories situated in a simplified field of international politics. The booklet reflects close collaboration between writer and artist on this tidy product. Forty years later, the ebook makes it easy to keep and enjoy.
