In the 1960s, about half of Mr. Burtman’s magazines were distributed by a company called All States, out of Chicago. By 1966, All States was bankrupt and disappeared, owing Mr. Burtman $180,000.
The financial crisis resulted in a new alliance with Reuben Sturman of Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Sturman is generally recognized as the covert publisher or distributor of most of the adult magazines in the US from 1960 through 1990. Robert Blue called him “the King of Porn.” Unique World reflects the continuing connection between Mr. Sturman and Mr. Burtman, after his California migration, with ads for magazines by mail order out of Cleveland.
Unique World presents photo narratives of dominant females in fetish leather, engaged in vicious punishment. Volume 5, Number 3 has five foto-feature pieces that picture women hurting a man:
• Renee the Ruthless — icy Parisian discipline
• School for Slaves — Renee Bond in a tight leather corset
• Pathway to Pain — a pretty redhead in boots with six-inch heels whips her prey
• Date with a Dominatrix — slender Deena has fun with Ronnie in ropes
• On Your Knees! — a statuesque diva demands lip service for her thigh-high leather.
Angry sadists show off their lovely figures in knee-high boots, thigh-high boots, pumps, stockings, corsets, long gloves and panties. Sexy beauties punish men for entertainment, using cats, cuffs, rope, a quirt and a head harness. Most demand that subjects lick boots.
Six illustrations by the Great Bill Ward enhance a lengthy short story titled Club Bizarre. Miss Carter has Pete the bartender shine her boots with his tongue. When novice Barbara arrives, the Mistress's vigorous quirt accomplishes initiation ritual.
An essay without pictures explores Penis Punishment, relating it to popular culture and stereotypes. PP implements are described.

All content in the 64-page magazine is in the large-format ebook, including ads. The tonality of photographs was adjusted.
The sequence of pages was revised to achieve continuity of the short story. Some page layouts were changed to obtain larger pictures on ebook pages.
Some carpet, window coverings, and furniture were cropped out to obtain larger images of the models. Due to these modifications, the ebook provides a viewing experience superior to that of the paper version.

Optimized for ebook viewing
The optimized version is based on pictures, not pages. Each picture is placed on a separate, wide ebook page. Except for the smallest photos, all pictures fill the screen from top to bottom. The model is shown complete, and fetish details, such as corsets, footwear, or action are enlarged beside the complete image or on another page.
The optimized ebook shows the tableau within each picture, and the models’ pretty figures, much better than the old paper. Photographs have been ordered to present narrative continuity and costume consistency, as content permits. Illustrations are clustered at the end. 100+ pages.
Unique World is the direct descendant of Bizarre Life magazine, both of which were published by Leonard Burtman. If we judge by his lifetime oeuvre, scenarios that depict women in leather bringing men to their knees were among his favorite themes. Two digital iterations preserve classic femdom action in easy-to-see ebooks.
