No publisher or publication date is shown on this volume. The top right corner of the cover shows a red globe logo with the letters WWNC, which probably refers to the print shop.
The pages measure close to 6” by 9”, somewhat larger than a typical Selbee digest-sized zine, like Exotique. The contents seem like Selbee leftovers, defects and rejects, as most of the models in the five photo sets have been seen in Selbee magazines. Like Selbee magazines, the model on the cover is seldom seen inside.
On the other hand, most photos show models in stockings, and many of them are black. Most of these shapely posers are rather pretty, nicely dressed in hosiery, garter belts, panties, bras, and footwear with three-inch heels. The last couple of pages consist of a group of small pictures, one per model, in the nicest stockings and heels.
Although it doesn't belong in the original, I've kept the picture article about Spanish bullfights in the replica version.
The photography is good, with a pleasing spectrum of grays, which we've adjusted. Specks and blemishes have been retouched on the models. When ebook pages are viewed at full size, photos are clear. Some of the page layouts have been revised slightly to obtain larger pictures. Every word and picture of the original is in the ebook, including the ads.
Sheer Hose, Volume 1, Issue 1
Sampson Publishing & Distributing produced several pinup titles in the early 1960s, including Nylon Mood. The page layouts reflect the graphic trends of their “modern” era, and a light tone prevails. Like the Parliament magazines that began at about this time, nearly all of the photography shows airbrushing.
Sultry, saucy, cute and sexy, these young ladies have plenty of pinup appeal. Although the magazine's title refers to hosiery, less than half of the pictures show legs in stockings. The heels are about three inches in most pictorials, which also show garters, garters belts, stockings, cinchers, and assorted lingerie. One short story, another fiction piece, cartoons and two pages of ads.
The ebook consists of a page-for-page replica of the original magazine. Every photo, cartoon, word and ad is included. When ebook pages are viewed at full size, photos are clear. The page sequence has been revised slightly to achieve continuity of lengthy prose.
Page layouts have been revised slightly to obtain larger pictures of models. The tonality of photos has been adjusted and specks and blemishes retouched.
