Our practice has consistently been the re-introduction of esoteric, exotic, and bizarre publications of the mid-20th century. An obscure magazine from 1968, this week’s new product is strange in its own right, but also serves us a charming dish of nostalgia.

The premiere effort collects diverse themes and several photo sets we haven’t seen before. The issue opens with two pretty models fondling each other on a sofa. Then, we’re taken to a dungeon where a woman in a leather jumpsuit punishes her naked captive (parts of this set many have appeared in Bizarre Life). A prose piece with filler photos explains “Why Swinging Men Prefer Lesbians.”

Karina and Donna are shown making out in the living room until Donna’s wig is removed and Karina discovers that her paramour is transvestite. Then, a debutante and her maid play at role reversal.

Then, a special treat: on four pages, 8 fine Gene Bilbrew illustrations show women in high heels wrestling. One Eneg illustration also introduces a short story.

A pictorial shows two blonds canoodling on the couch. In “Carol and Mike,” a sexy woman with a whip drives a man to his knees. Finally, roommates Abbey and Misty show us their panties while engaged in a pillow fight.

In the way that the Bur in Burmel Publishing and bee in Selbee Publishing refer to Mr. Burtman, either first or second B in B. B. Sales Company probably refers to Mr. Burtman. The magazine has the graphic style, proportions, printer’s ornaments, borders, and iconic Bilbrew clip art routinely found in magazines published by Mr. Burtman.

The strange mix of lesbianism, transvestism, women wrestling, and female domination of men yields a peculiar spawn that can’t be categorized. And then there’s the unique infusion of models of African descent. And the exceptional color centerfold.

Many models wear stockings and garter belts while they cuddle, fondle, smooch and caress. In the dungeon series, some pubic areas are obscured by black rectangles. And it’s fair to say that little, if anything, expressed about lesbians here is true. In a way, this publication reflects the confusion, chaos and innocence of those tragic, crazy times.

The digital replica ebook of the 72-page magazine presents each page full-size in the original sequence. The tonality of photos was adjusted and many specks were re-touched. Some empty margins were reduced to obtain larger pictures.
