With names like Sheer Hose, Nylon Mood, and Black Satin many Sampson products show a hosiery focus in their titles and covers. Shocking Stockings appears to be a Sampson magazine with a second cover. The center shows four staples of two different dimensions. One pair of staples were the originals. The second pair attached the Shocking Stocking cover after the original cover was torn off.

Many Nylon Mood and Black Satin issues have tables of contents on page two. Shocking Stocking has advertising on page two and no table of contents, like Sheer Hose, another re-cover.

Early issues of Eve magazine, possibly the longest running Sampson nameplate, showed a topless model eating an apple on page three. This hat-tip to the ancient legend appears on page three of Shocking Stockings, accompanied by a short verse that includes the word Eve. The magazine titled Shocking Stockings is Eve, Volume 1, Number 6.

Original Sampson covers showed titles of pictorials found inside. The Shocking Stockings cover has a photo of cute Vicky Kennedy, no titles and Vicky appears nowhere inside.

Shocking Stockings shapes up as a solid pinup magazine with a strong focus on hosiery, legs and lingerie. Nearly half the pictures show models in stockings. Bare-legged posers show off curvy gams, usually perched on mules with three-inch heels.

One pictorial collects photos of models posed near a mirror or holding one. All other pictorials focus on a single model.

Lovely ladies include Lee Southern, Kathie Kennedy, Joyce Long, Christine Carter, Vikki Kaye, Sherle Douglas, Gina Montano, Caryl Richards, Simone Ginet, and Audrey Nichols. Like other Sampson (and Parliament) magazines, air-brushed gleam was added to nylons.

A pictorial titled Shocking Stockings presents a pretty brunette in full-fashioned nylons beside and in a bathtub. An essay offers tips to gentlemen about seduction ploys in a dozen different countries.

The ebook contains all content of the 72-page magazine, including full-page cartoons and two pages of advertising. Page sequence was revised to achieve continuity of the prose piece. Empty margins were excised. Page layouts were retained.

Brightness, contrast and levels were adjusted and shadows reduced. The professional photography of the original transposed to ebook format with clarity.
