In each of these stories, a wife is sent to Lord Halibut's Bondsleigh Castle for corrective punishment. Fellowes, the Halibut butler, enjoys the pleasures of viewing their naked loveliness and hurting them with whip, cane, cat-o'-nine tails, clips, sharp planks, steel rings, spreader bars, ropes, cuffs and excruciating bondage.

In a way, the stories are about Fellowes, the disciplined retainer, who approaches his punishment projects with adherence to rules, respect, and diligence. Despite entreaties and proposals from the gorgeous women left in his custody, he observes parameters defined by the husbands.

Like British-literature butlers, Fellowes expresses modest praise and admiration for all the people in the room. Usually in a room with a naked beauty he's about to thrash, Fellowes' measured language expresses regard for their allure and sensibilities, which he promptly attacks with implements of fine materials and craft. Concurrently, he acknowledges a hierarchy in which he is subordinate, despite his enforcement responsibilities.

We're attracted to the plight of the pretty penitents who acquiesce to their spouses' prescriptions, but these are Fellowes' stories. His name comes first in every title. His name is a word used often in the texts.

In the dungeon-like context of his workspace, exposed to erotically positioned young women reacting to the pain they endure at his hands, repetitions that mark and change the color of their skin, and the shrieks of their anguish, he proceeds without baudiness or licentious suggestion. His contact always clinical; his remarks polite and often sympathetic.

Few characters in any literature function in a similar context and show comparable restraint, propriety and attention to assignment. That may be the crux of the Fellowes fantasies. The protagonist's consistent abstinence from trespass and innuendo (as might plague a more average man, one that hadn't butler training), and the continuous array of temptations within reach construct a dynamic tension found in few fiction works.

Felicitious Flog

An American wife, Mrs. Chester Herkimer arrives at Bondsleigh Castle at the behest of her husband. Although her misdemeanor isn't specified, Natalie answers Fellowes question with these remarks: “Penance and discomforts! There’s a pair of honeys! Darling Chester calls it getting my head straight and whipping my ass. I’m afraid it’s the full treatment.” This informs the reliable retainer of how to proceed.

The text describes her bottom's first encounter with a cane that has a name.

The butler was a judge of quality. He saw it now. The ‘Singapore Special’ sliced the air with its unique wicked whine and found intimate lodgement within the proffered flesh. Save for a visible tensing, a gasp, and an involuntary toss of her proud head, Natalie Herkimer vouchsafed no other acknowledgment of her agony. Slowly five strokes sought and found her nakedness. She made no sounds beyond involuntary inhalations, no signs beyond the weaving of her curves and the shocked lift of her head as each blow introduced her to an agony she had never before known. When it was done, Fellowes stood in silent reverence, then walked to the fore where eyes met eyes and conveyed a message that had no need of words. . . .

Again the quick lift of the head, the widened eyes. “You mean. . . . You mean you pay no attention. . . ? You just go on using that cane on me?”

“Yes, Madam.”

Natalie drooped as though the butler’s words had robbed her of support. She seemed to be deliberately allowing her wrists to take her entire weight, tasting the full nadir of despair.

“I have an awful thought, Fellowes: A woman can go on and on. . . . We’re a natural receptacle for pain, aren’t we? You’ll do all the things to me that right now I think impossible, and at the finish of it, I’ll still be alive, able to walk around?”

“Yes, Madam. I applaud your percipience.”

Whipped Wife

H. E. Henshaw and wife Pamela visit Bondsleigh Castle together. She has betrayed her troth — with three men — and must request painful justice for flagrant transgressions. Her husband's in attendance to ensure that all gets accomplished as he feels fair.

Each booklet contains eight illustrations. Except for two pictures that show Natalie in stockings, garters and ankle boots, in Fellowes 7, the character is nude. In Fellowes 14, Pamela appears in nylons, high-heeled boots, gloves and a corset-type thing.

Ashely's slender heroines look lovely from every direction. Graceful curves, tapering limbs and alluring roundness of bottom and bosom assemble in a nearly athletic figure. Pencil shading suggests smooth, feminine contours, sometimes compressed by straps. Long hair winds, curves and curls around startled eyes and pretty faces.

The product includes three optimized ebooks. Two contain the covers, optimized pictures and prose that's in the booklets. Fellowes 14 also includes advertising on the last four pages. A third ebook presents only Ashely's art, optimized on 60 pages.

The text has been re-set for the ebook iterations. Few changes were made to Mr. Campbell's excellent writing. His narrative benefits from a consistency of tone and rhetoric that creates an opulent atmosphere of aristocracy in which promiscuous young women endure ingenious punishment rituals at the hands of their husband's surrogate. Each story is about 7000 words.

Brightness, contrast and levels of pictures were adjusted. Images transposed to ebook format with clarity. Many show the texture of pencil lead on paper.

Optimized illustrations repeat fetish details as virtual enlargements on separate pages, showing faces, gags, figure features and bondage equipment. Pictures appear in ebooks in the sequence of the originals. As possible, optimized images are placed near correlating text.

All new scans. Female nudity.

The Fellowes series delivers superb bondage narrative without villains. The optimized ebook presentations are the best way to enjoy it.
