Angels of Pain forms up as a book as much about sex as it is about peculiar surgical modification of sex organs. The story alternates attention between The Woman and her little demon acolytes, wealthy twins Belinda and Bobby, and LA police Lieutenant Considine and Captain Alvarez, his Mexican cohort.
A sexy sadist with a special genius for devising torment, The Woman likes to kidnap pairs of male and female twins. Then, she has her mad collaborator Dr. Reik accomplish anatomical organ exchange between the twins. Her innovation deprives the males of the pairs of their penises and relocates them on the bodies of their sisters. This perverse exchange of body parts prevents both twins of any ability to enjoy sexual pleasure. She twists this maddening deprivation into a cultish coven, with herself as the witch-in-chief. A major ritual involves twins whipping each other.
Bobby and Belinda are super-wealthy southern California twins who spend a lot of time playing erotic games with each other's perfect body. They wear tight rubber thongs that restrain youthful genitalia, and work hard to stay on the biblical side of sexual conventions.
Lieutenant Considine gets assigned to find another pair of missing twins. Early in his investigation, he learns that the Linderman twins were abducted. His pursuit takes him to Mexico.
The Woman — a busty hermaphrodite who underwent surgery before the story begins — requires her minions to repeat a wild litany about pleasure and pain and hurt each other before they experience any relief. In a secret sanctuary far beneath the Linderman mansion, The Woman leads her obedient followers in a bizarre bondage ceremony.
"Prepare the way for The Sacrifice!" The Woman screamed this last injunction in a loud voice which seemed to echo from the walls. As her words died away, each of the six female acolytes raised her right arm, holding aloft her leather whip. Then, in unison each brought her whip down with full force across the unprotected buttocks of the male by whom she stood.
There was no playing here, no illusion. As the whips descended as one, from six throats arose a cry of pain, genuine, not simulated. Faster and faster plied the whips and louder and louder became the screams as the ceremony developed into an orgy of agony. White bodies twisted, arms and shoulders were racked as helpless victims tried to avoid the lashes.
"STOP!" The woman's voice, strident, harsh, cut across the screaming confusion, so that her acolytes held their whips and stood motionless, seeming dazed.
"Tonight there will be no pleasure," announced the woman. "Tonight all must wait, prepared. Tomorrow is the night, when we shall fetch The Sacrifice!"
She gestured, and her acolytes knew what must be done. They quickly lowered the arms of the groaning victims, led them to the left-hand wall, made them stand with their backs to it. Deftly they chained wrists and ankles wide-spread to the ringbolts. Each waist was encircled by a steel belt, locked on with a large padlock, and each belt was in turn chained to the wall. The youths stood there, looking more dead than alive, but each with a strong erection under his small rubber apron.
Then, starting with the oldest and tallest the acolytes began to chain one another to the opposite wall, facing each one her own victim. The woman at last came from behind the table, walked to the end of the line to the final, free acolyte, a tiny teenager. She chained her quickly to the wall, then stood between the two lanes, silent and majestic for a minute or so.
"You will be released at noon," she said. "Then eat, and sleep well. I shall return in the early hours of tomorrow morning — to fetch The Sacrifice! Be ready!"
Captives are forced into excruciating bondage arrangements involving chains, rods, ropes, straps, clips and sacks. The creative choreography of various torments might be the distinguishing aspect of the vivid narrative. When Considine is captured, his masculinity gets fastened within unique restraints.
Bram Considine was stripped in seconds. To avoid the risk of releasing his hands, his shirt was cut off with a sharp knife. Then, using the simple and effective technique of twisting his balls until he screamed, he was forced to his knees. His balls were enclosed in a small soft leather sack that had a strap around the neck. This was tightened, putting heavy pressure on his scrotum. From this strap, another led backward to connect to a long tube of strong rubber, closed at both ends. The tube was smeared with fiery capsicum cream, then forced up into his rectum. From the other side of this tube a chain ran up between his buttocks.
His head was forced far back, and the chain locked to the chain at the back of the gag which silenced him. Bram felt as though his vitals were on fire, and he twisted and writhed with the dreadful pain. But he could not make a sound in protest.
The professional text was re-set for the ebook. The prose was edited, but the original vocabulary and sentence meter were retained. About 42000 words.
Most of the 12 excellent illustrations by the Great Bill Ward show scenes from the narrative. Some show tableaux that approximate moments in the story. He renders most of the female characters as androgynous, including the voluptuous protagonist. His shapely females are usually pictured in nylons and high heels but sometimes in long gloves, boots and corsets.
Tonality of images was adjusted in pursuit of clarity. Illustrations were optimized on 50 pages, disclosing virtual enlargements of figure features, fetish details, and grand female silhouettes. As possible, pictures were placed close to prose that describes them.
All new scans. Female nudity.
A second ebook collects only the optimized pictures.
